Zhuge Oracle Lesson 72

Oracle Text

Bar the inner door and lock it fast,
beware the one who lurks in the dark;
say not there is no trouble abroad—
be careless, and disaster surely comes.

Interpretation

When all is quiet, act as if trouble looms; when trouble comes, guard all the more. Those who draw this oracle should mind their doors against theft, and speak and act with care to avoid calamity.
