The golden scale is in your hand—
yet having caught it, guard its flight;
and if it comes to dealings,
weigh your words and seal your lips.
Interpretation
The golden scale alludes to money. It warns us to speak little and carefully; if a friend seeks to borrow or move money, beware of being cheated.
