Zhuge Oracle Lesson 296

Oracle Text

You ride your horse to Chang'an,
you view the flowers, just now in bloom;
one day the rain comes pouring down—
and all their scent and color wither away.

Interpretation

No flower stays lovely a hundred days, nor good a thousand. In success, often think of the times of failure; when all goes your way, guard against a sudden setback or calamity.
